Jan was admitted to practise in 1977. She was a partner at Corrs Chambers Westgarth from 1983 to June 1999, when she retired as a Partner. From July 1999 to October 2001, Jan was Special Counsel at Minter Ellison. She joined L K Donaldson &Co as a consultant in October 2001.
Jan has particular expertise in health areas, litigation and family law. Her experience includes: representing the former Department of Health and Community Services at a coronial inquiry into the first aboriginal death in custody in Victoria; advising hospitals and health care organisations in relation to issues of privacy; occupational health and safety; legislative requirements; employment; risk management; disclosure of documents; and various ethical issues; acting for the current North Western Mental Health Service and other hospitals; and acting in all jurisdictions, including Magistrates, Federal, Supreme and County Courts and tribunals.
Jan remains a consultant by choice and a leading practitioner in Melbourne in her chosen specialties. Jan is currently a Director of Ambulance Victoria.
